I first saw Great Green Macaws in Costa Rica in 2010 and have been lucky enough to see them every time I go to the Sarapiqui area. This magnificent parrot is endangered in the wild from habitat loss due to banana plantains and cattle ranching. In Costa Rica it is thought that up to 90% of this macaw's native lowland habitat has been destroyed. There are only small, fragmented areas that maintain small populations of this spectacular bird.
My painting was juried into the Artists for Conservation Festival in Vancouver, British Columbia and international tour.
